Adidas names are simpler than they look once you know the hierarchy. Metalbone is the flagship line, Ale Galán's signature platform. Within it, HRD stands for Hard Rubber Density — the most aggressive foam, paired with diamond shape and head-heavy balance for pure attack. The standard Metalbone (no suffix) keeps the diamond shape but softens the spec for advanced club players. Control switches to a round shape and lower balance for placement-first play. Carbon versions use carbon faces at a more accessible price point: the plain Carbon is diamond-shaped and attack-oriented, while Carbon CTRL is round and control-focused.
Arrow Hit is the intermediate line below Metalbone: same Carbon / Carbon CTRL split (diamond vs round), but with a more forgiving, mid-level spec. Cross IT is the lightweight range — the Light 3.5 suffix indicates a reduced-weight spec designed for faster hands and less physical demand. Read the name left to right and you know the racket before opening the specs table.
The flagship line. The Metalbone HRD is Galán's match frame: diamond geometry, hard rubber, maximum aggression. The standard Metalbone dials the spec back slightly for advanced club players, while Control and Carbon versions cover every style and level within the same platform.
The intermediate line: pro-inspired diamond and round shapes at a more accessible spec. Carbon for aggressive all-court play, Carbon CTRL for control-oriented right-siders.
The lightweight entry point. The Cross IT Light 3.5 drops weight for faster hands and less arm stress, while keeping a round, control-friendly shape. Ideal for women, juniors and developing players.
Brand
Adidas distributes its best frame technology across the full range rather than reserving it for flagships. Proprietary systems — carbon layups, foam grades, throat reinforcements, balance customization — appear at every level, which means the design logic stays consistent even when the materials differ.
The Metalbone series is the flagship: diamond shapes for attackers in three escalating configurations, and the round Carbon CTRL for defenders who want the same frame engineering without the attack bias. The Cross IT line is Adidas’s purpose-built women’s range — Carbon Aluminized surface, Dynamic Air Flow frame slots, and a brief built around speed and placement rather than power. The Arrow Hit Carbon series brings the same multi-system architecture into the intermediate segment, with a diamond attacker and a round CTRL variant built around honest player fit rather than aspirational positioning.
Adidas builds specialist tools with clear identities. The lineup rewards players who know what their game is — and have the patience to choose the frame that matches it rather than the one that looks best on paper.
