Babolat Viper Juan Lebrón 3.1 2027 Review: new skin, same wolf
Babolat dresses the Lebrón line for 2027, and the flagship keeps its fangs. New skin, same wolf: a reversible paint job, magenta on one face and aquamarine on the other, stretched over the same diamond mold, the same 270 mm balance, the same 3K carbon face and hard EVA core that made the 3.0 the reference weapon of the family. Our card moves to 8.4, and the chart explains why.
Read this as a refresh, because it is one. The architecture carries over untouched, and what the 3.0 already proved on court still frames every number here. What changes is the context: a full season of play behind that mold, a stricter scoring algorithm on our side, and a collection that now opens three doors instead of two.
Lineage
What actually changes 2026→2027
Spec by spec, the 3.1 is the 3.0 in the new reversible dress. The gaps against our Viper Juan Lebrón 3.0 review therefore read mostly as the evolution of our proprietary scoring algorithm, not as product change. Three rows cross the significance band.
- Mold and balance: unchanged, diamond shape at 270 mm with a 38 mm profile.
- Face: the same 3K carbon weave with the 3D Spin+ rough finish.
- Core: the same hard EVA configuration, the firmest read of the family.
- Frame tech: Dynamic Stability System, Holes Pattern System and Syntec Pro grip carry over.
- What is new: the reversible colorway, magenta on one face and aquamarine on the other, and a Veron sibling joining the collection.
| Parameter | 2026 | 2027 | Δ | Why |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Comfort | 5.8 | 6.1 | +0.3 | A full season on the identical frame reads less harsh than launch-week impressions, and the algorithm now weighs that |
| Stability | 8.8 | 8.5 | -0.3 | The current methodology taxes a 270 mm balance harder; the frame itself has not moved |
| Verdict | 8.1 | 8.4 | +0.3 | Base 8.19, plus 0.1 of excellence bonus for a Power reading above 9.0, plus 0.15 of consensus |
Power, control, maneuverability, spin, sweetspot and playability stay inside the noise band and off the table. The 2026 page was scored with a previous version of our algorithm: part of every gap is our methodology evolving, not a step forward by the product.
Power 9.2 ranks second among the 91 diamonds we have scored. Comfort 6.1 is the sixth-lowest reading of the same table. Attacker 8.19 · Hybrid 7.28 · Defender 6.99: a 0.91 spread, wider than 98.9% of the frames in our database.
On court
How the Babolat Viper Juan Lebrón 3.1 2027 plays
The second-heaviest hammer in the drawer
Power 9.2 sits second among the 91 diamonds we have scored, behind only the XPLO 27, and it behaves like it: the face gives nothing back at contact, so every gram of your swing turns into ball speed. Stability 8.5, thirteenth on the same diamond list, is the Dynamic Stability System doing its job at the bridge: the frame does not twist when a hard ball lands high, and clean smashes come back with interest. This is the whole argument for the 3.1, and it is a strong one.
The toll booth stays open
The weakest column is the story, as always with this family. Comfort 6.1 is the sixth-lowest figure of the 184 frames we have scored, and Sweetspot 6.6 is the third-lowest: contact that drifts toward the frame dies there, and your forearm files the report. Maneuverability 6.9 is the 270 mm balance showing up in rushed defense. None of this is a flaw in the brief. It is the price of the hammer, and the 3.1 has not discounted it.
Shot by shot
Shot by shot
- Baseline: only with early feet; Maneuverability 6.9 makes late, wristy recoveries near the glass an honest loss.
- Volleys: Stability 8.5 keeps the face square at full exchange speed, and the ball leaves heavy through the middle.
- Bandeja: Control 7.3 rewards the full swing over the touch play; aim with your feet, then let it go.
- Víbora: Spin 8.0 bites when the wrist snaps; the 3D Spin+ texture earns its keep on sliced contact.
- Smash: Power 9.2 closes the story. Time it clean and the point is simply over.
Player fit
Who should buy it, and who shouldn’t
The finished left-side attacker
Attacker 8.19 tops the chart with a 1.20 gap on the Defender profile, wider than 90.2% of the frames we have scored: this racket knows exactly what it is. You already centre the face on every swing, your smash closes points, and you want a frame that adds a gear instead of a safety net. Power 9.2 finishes what your mechanics start.
The wrist defender, and tender elbows
Sweetspot 6.6 and Maneuverability 6.9 mean reactive, late defense costs you real points, and Comfort 6.1 never softens the bill over a long match. If you want the Lebrón mold with gentler manners, the Viper Soft Juan Lebrón 3.1 is the same door with softer hinges. The standard Viper keeps its edge for arms that can afford it.

Bullpadel XPLO 27
Verdict 8.7 · Attacker 8.36
It counters with Comfort 7.1 against our 6.1: a full point that decides who still has a forearm in the third set.
NOX AT10 Genius Attack Xtrem 2026
Verdict 8.7 · Attacker 8.42
It counters with Spin 8.4 against our 8.0: on sliced contact its double texture grips harder, on the wall ours holds its own.
Adidas Metalbone HRD 2026
Verdict 8.8 · Attacker 8.52
It counters with Stability 8.8 against our 8.5: three tenths that show up exactly when the exchange turns violent.
The verdict
Verdict 8.4: the wolf still bites
The arithmetic stays transparent: base 8.19 from the winning Attacker profile, plus 0.1 of excellence bonus for a Power reading above 9.0, plus 0.15 of consensus for spec integrity and the field validation inherited from the identical 3.0. The Viper Juan Lebrón 3.1 is the sharpest tool Babolat builds for 2027, and it charges technique for every winner. If your smash already closes points, sign here. If it doesn’t, the door next to this one has softer hinges.
FAQ
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between the Viper Juan Lebrón 3.1 and the 3.0?
The paint, essentially: a reversible magenta and aquamarine dress over the unchanged diamond mold, face and core. Our verdict moves from 8.1 to 8.4, but the 3.0 page was scored with a previous version of our algorithm, so part of the gap is our methodology evolving, not a leap by the product.
What is the actual weight of the Viper Juan Lebrón 3.1 2027?
The declared figure is 370 g with a ± 10 g tolerance. The identical 3.0 came back at 369 g on an independent scale reading, which is the inheritance our validation rests on: expect your unit to land in the same neighbourhood.
Should I get the Viper 3.1 or the Viper Soft 3.1?
Same mold, two characters. The standard Viper reads Power 9.2 and Comfort 6.1; the Viper Soft 3.1 reads Power 8.4 and Comfort 7.9. If you generate your own pace, take the hard one. If you want the face to help, take the Soft.
Is the Viper Juan Lebrón 3.1 2027 good for intermediate players?
Only for the polished ones. Our taxonomy lands on Advanced with an Intermediate door, and Sweetspot 6.6 is the reason: the face forgives little and the high balance asks for early preparation. Intermediates still building contact should start with the Veron 3.1.
Which rival makes sense if the Viper 3.1 feels too stiff?
The Bullpadel XPLO 27 keeps the artillery brief with a calmer face at Verdict 8.7. For the full parameter map before you commit, open the head-to-head with the XPLO 27.
