Bullpadel Vertex 05 27 Review: total play, control first

VERDICT 8.2CONTROL 8.4STABILITY 8.3ATTACKER 8.02

Juan Tello’s brief for the Vertex has always been total play, and the 05 27 takes the brief literally. The diamond outline stays, but the balance settles at 25.5 cm and the new Vertex Core⁵ heart opens the middle of the face. This is the diamond for players who refuse to pick a side.

The spec sheet first. The declared weight sits at 365–375 g, and the first independent bench data reads a lighter swing than the 2026 frame, with swingweight down from 162 to 157. The face is X-Tend Carbon 12K over a MultiEVA core, stiffness reads 65/100 on our bench scale. This review replaces our preview page on the same address, with the full test now done.

Lineage

What changes from the Vertex 05 2026

The fifth Vertex generation is a revision, not a revolution: a triangular heart, a sanded finish, a friendlier face. The score gaps against our Vertex 05 2026 review also reflect the evolution of our proprietary scoring algorithm, which now weighs spin quality and tolerance differently. Read the deltas as both.

  • Heart: Vertex Core⁵, a triangular bridge in place of the double diagonal.
  • Finish: the Top Spin sanded texture returns over the X-Tend Carbon 12K face.
  • Surface: 530 cm², among the most generous of the 2027 diamonds.
  • Balance: 25.5 cm, even by diamond standards.
Parameter 2026 2027 Δ Why
Power 8.6 8.2 -0.4 A calmer face; our current algorithm also reads leverage differently
Spin 8.0 7.4 -0.6 Methodology weighs spin quality harder; the bite needs the wrist
Sweetspot 7.2 7.6 +0.4 The triangular Vertex Core⁵ opens the middle of the face
Verdict 8.4 8.2 -0.2 Base 8.02, consensus +0.2

Control, maneuverability, comfort, playability and stability move less than 0.3 and stay off the table. The 2026 page was scored with a previous version of our algorithm: part of every gap is our methodology evolving, not a step back by the product.

Control 8.4 is the highest figure among the 86 diamond rackets we have tested. Attacker 8.02 · Hybrid 7.85 · Defender 7.91: a 0.10 spread, the closest thing to a three-way tie in our diamond database.

On court

How the Bullpadel Vertex 05 27 plays

CONTROL 8.4SWEETSPOT 7.6

Placement first, panic never

Every ball from the back of the court lands where the eyes sent it: blocks, chiquitas, the defensive lob under pressure. Control 8.4 tops the table among the 86 diamonds we have tested, and it shows most when the rally speeds up. The sweet spot plays its part, because the Vertex Core⁵ keeps the face honest an inch above and below the centre. Sweetspot 7.6 ranks eighth in the same class, a margin that diamonds rarely grant.

POWER 8.2STABILITY 8.3

Enough thunder, no drama

Power 8.2 is honest work for a diamond: flat smashes need a full swing and a clean shoulder, and they reward both with heavy, accurate exits. Nothing arrives for free and nothing is missing. Stability 8.3 keeps the frame quiet at full extension, so the bandeja repeats itself ball after ball. The Curv:Aktiv arms and the triangular bridge do the silent work here, and the court shrinks on your terms, not on the racket’s.

MANEUVERABILITY 7.7COMFORT 7.5

Quick hands, quiet arm

The first independent bench data reads a swingweight of 157, down from 162 on the 2026 frame, and fast net exchanges confirm the scale: the head arrives on time. Comfort 7.5 is the other good surprise, because the MultiEVA layup filters without going soft. Playability 7.6 sums it up: this is the rare diamond that lets you defend on purpose, not as a punishment.

Shot by shot

Shot by shot

  • Baseline: Control 8.4 turns defence into counterattack; the best figure among the 86 diamonds tested.
  • Volleys: crisp and on time; the lighter swing keeps pace with fast hands.
  • Bandeja: Stability 8.3 holds depth at full arm; repeatable, never wild.
  • Víbora: Spin 7.4 asks the wrist to work; the sanded Top Spin face pays back technique.
  • Smash: Power 8.2 closes with authority; placement beats violence here.

Technology

What does the Vertex Core⁵ actually change?

The triangular bridge replaces the old double diagonal and stiffens the throat where torsion starts. The effect shows in our numbers: Stability 8.3 with a 25.5 cm balance is a combination diamonds rarely manage. The CustomWeight plates can add punch high on the head; our advice is to try one plate at a time, because the even balance is the whole point of this frame.

The face is X-Tend Carbon 12K over MultiEVA, with the Top Spin sanded finish doing the gripping. Spin 7.4 is the honest reading: texture helps, technique decides. Ease Vibe and Vibradrive filter the handle, and Comfort 7.5 lands well above the family average for this class of frame. The Air Power channel keeps the swing quick through the air, and the whole package feels engineered around the word enough, in the good sense.

Player fit

Who should buy it, and who shouldn’t

✓ MADE FOR

The advanced all-court player who refuses labels

Attacker 8.02, Hybrid 7.85, Defender 7.91: three profiles within a tenth, a map almost without valleys. You build points from the back and finish them at the net, and your racket never forces the choice. Control 8.4 serves the planner, Power 8.2 backs the finisher. Strong intermediates are welcome too: our taxonomy reads an Intermediate primary.

✗ NOT FOR

Pure finishers and very first seasons

If the overhead is your whole game, Power 8.2 will sound polite next to the Hack 05 27 and its louder hammer. If your mechanics are still under construction, even this friendly diamond asks for timing that only repetition builds. Everyone in between has a new home.

The verdict

Verdict 8.2: the diamond for players who play everything

The arithmetic is transparent: base 8.02 from the winning Attacker profile, no excellence bonus, +0.2 consensus for a spec sheet and independent measurements that agree everywhere we looked. The drop from the 8.4 of the 2026 page is mostly our methodology evolving, with the product barely moving. The Vertex 05 27 is the diamond that refuses to choose, and the first one we would hand to a player whose game has no label.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What is the PadelVerdict score for the Bullpadel Vertex 05 27?

The overall score is 8.2, built from a base of 8.02 and a +0.2 consensus modifier, with no excellence bonus. Profiles: Attacker 8.02 / Hybrid 7.85 / Defender 7.91, a 0.10 spread that is the identity of the racket in one number. Control 8.4 tops the 86 diamonds we have tested.

What is the difference between the Vertex 05 27 and the Vertex 05 2026?

Power moves from 8.6 to 8.2 and Spin from 8.0 to 7.4, while Sweetspot climbs from 7.2 to 7.6. Our 2026 page was scored with a previous version of our algorithm, so part of every gap reflects an evolving methodology, not a step back by the product.

What is the actual weight of the Vertex 05 27?

The declared range is 365–375 g, and the first independent bench data puts swingweight at 157, down from 162 on the previous frame: lighter through the air despite the same numbers on paper. Budget 5–8 g more with an overgrip. We will update this page once our own unit hits the scale.

Is the Vertex 05 27 good for intermediate players?

Yes, more than any other diamond in the line. Our taxonomy reads an Intermediate primary: Playability 7.6, Comfort 7.5 and a Sweetspot 7.6 forgive the occasional late contact, and Control 8.4 rewards tidy technique from day one. Very first seasons still belong with a round frame.

Which rival makes sense if the Vertex 05 27 feels too polite?

If you want more thunder, the Nox Nerbo+ 12K 2026 brings Power 8.6 at the same Verdict 8.2. The head-to-head comparator shows the full map, parameter by parameter, before you commit.
